The upcoming racing game Forza Horizon 6 officially launches on PC and Xbox on May 19. However, players who purchased the Premium Edition have already unlocked early access, revealing several critical insights about the title.
Player Metrics and Initial Feedback
Data from SteamDB confirms that a massive number of users invested in the premium tier, driving the opening day peak concurrent count to 172,000 on Steam. This marks a historic record for the franchise – significantly outperforming Forza Horizon 5, which previously peaked at 81,000 players.
Interestingly, early buyers did not completely align with the glowing critical reception, which stood at a 92 score with perfect recommendations. While critics praised the mechanics, graphics, and content, technical issues caused Steam user reviews to drop to mixed initially, before climbing back up to an 83% “Very Positive” rating.

Users noted optimization problems – including severe lags, memory leaks, and errors blocking access due to an updated version requirement. A substantial portion of this initial wave of negative reviews came from Chinese players.
The concurrent player count will likely surge once the standard edition goes live. Additionally, Forza Horizon 6 enters the Game Pass subscription library on day one – a move that ensures immediate massive visibility and engagement.
The racing project is also scheduled to arrive on the PlayStation 5 platform later.
