Pokemon 30th Anniversary Festival

Spring 2026 in Pokemon Go: Full Guide to Memories in Motion Events

From March 3 to March 9, the game pays tribute to three decades of Pokemon history by returning to its roots in the Kanto region. This nostalgia-driven event focuses on the original 151 Pokemon, making them significantly more common in the wild and in specialized research tasks.

Trainers should keep an eye out for Pikachu wearing hats inspired by original protagonists Red and Leaf. Furthermore, the Go Pass will feature milestone rewards that can culminate in an encounter with Mewtwo, provided enough tasks are finished during the celebration period.

Featured encounters for the anniversary include:

  • Wild: Pikachu, Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, Gengar, Eevee, Dragonite, and the Legendary Birds.
  • Field Research: Kanto starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle), Magikarp, and Eevee.
  • One-Star Raids: Pikachu (Red’s hat) and Pikachu (Leaf’s hat).
  • Three-Star Raids: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

Reaching Go Pass milestones during this event unlocks 2x catch candy and XP for free users, with these bonuses increasing to 3x for Go Pass Deluxe holders.

The Pokopia Crossover Event

Between March 10 and March 16, Pokemon Go will celebrate the launch of Pokemon Pokopia with a dedicated crossover. This window offers a rare opportunity to catch a Ditto wearing a unique hat, alongside increased spawns for deceptive Pokemon like Zorua and Sudowoodo.

Exploration is highly encouraged during this week, as spinning PokeStops provides a massive 10x XP boost for first-time spins and 2x XP for standard spins. The likelihood of finding shiny versions of Sudowoodo and Zorua is also temporarily boosted.

Event highlights include:

  • Wild spawns: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Sudowoodo, and Zorua.
  • Three-Star Raids: Lapras, Snorlax, and Dragonite.

Bonuses active for Pokopia:

  • Double XP for all PokeStop spins.
  • 10x XP for the first spin of any PokeStop.
  • Higher shiny rates for Zorua and Sudowoodo.

Scorbunny Community Day

On March 14, the spotlight falls on the Galar region’s fire-type starter, Scorbunny. From 2 PM to 5 PM local time, the “Rabbit Pokemon” will dominate wild spawns, with a high probability of appearing in its shiny form for lucky trainers.

Evolving Scorbunny into Cinderace before 9 PM on the same day will grant the Pokemon the powerful move Blast Burn. To assist with the grind, egg hatch distances are reduced to one-quarter, and both Incense and Lures will see significantly extended durations.

Additional Community Day perks:

  • 1/4 hatch distance for new eggs.
  • Double catch candy and increased XL candy chances (Level 31+).
  • 3-hour Incense and 1-hour Lure Modules.
  • Half-price Stardust for trades and an extra Special Trade.

Bug Out Return and Blipbug Debut

The Bug Out event returns from March 17 to March 23, introducing Blipbug from the Galar region to the game. While Blipbug will be found in one-star Raids, other insectoid species like Scyther and Sizzlipede will be buzzing around in the wild.

Lure Modules will play a central role this year, attracting different Pokemon every two days. Using a Lure during these windows increases the chances of encountering shiny variants of Paras, Cutiefly, and Combee.

Special Raid and Lure encounters:

  • Wild: Caterpie, Scyther, Dwebble, Sizzlipede, Nymble.
  • Raids: Blipbug (1-star); Pinsir, Scizor, Kleavor (3-star).
  • Lure Phases: Paras/Sizzlipede (Mar 17-19), Cutiefly/Sizzlipede (Mar 19-21), Combee/Sizzlipede (Mar 21-23).

Go Pass rewards for Bug Out include 2x XP for Nice Throws (or better) and up to 3x catch candy depending on your Pass tier.

Water Research Day and Gigantamax Pikachu

March 21 will host a Water Research Day from 2 PM to 5 PM, focusing on aquatic species like Magikarp and Mareanie in the wild. Completing Field Research tasks during this three-hour window will lead to encounters with Lotad, Feebas, and Clamperl.

Later, on March 28, the Gigantamax Pikachu Max Battle Day arrives. This massive Pikachu will appear as a six-star boss at Power Spots between 2 PM and 5 PM. While it cannot evolve, its power is immense, and a shiny version is potentially available for those who defeat it.

To support Max Battles, the following bonuses will trigger:

  • Max Particle limit raised to 1,600.
  • 8x Particles from Power Spots and 2x from walking.
  • 1/4 distance for walking-based Particles.
  • Increased Remote Raid limit (10) and three Special Trades.

Finally, Niantic is keeping the month’s conclusion under wraps with a “Mystery Event” scheduled from March 31 through April 6. Details regarding this secret finale are expected to be revealed later in the month.
