It became known that The Dark Ages would not have a network mode. Instead, id Software focused its attention on developing a more vivid and interesting campaign. Judging by the words of journalist Stephen Totilo, the developers decided to abandon multiplayer for the sake of plot development at the very beginning of the shooter’s creation and are very happy with it.
Marty Stratton, executive producer of the id Software team, announced the addition of episodes in DOOM with dragon flights on horseback and control of a 30-story walking robot.
What awaits us in the new DOOM: The Dark Ages?
- The developers have reduced the dynamics: in the new game, we will play more as tanks, not fighters (as it was in Eternal).
- A special emphasis is placed on exploring the locations of the levels in search of treasures and secrets.
- Now the narrative will take place through gameplay and cut-scenes, and not through text notes, as it was in the previous parts.
The game is expected to be released on May 15, 2025. The shooter will be available on PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series (including a Game Pass subscription).
