Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox: playing on a console is even more interesting

It burst into the gaming world, taking a leading position on Steam and receiving a lot of positive reviews from fans. A gorgeously detailed colorful world that keeps secrets and witchcraft. Where you can choose your path and destiny. Where every step affects the further development of events. When the game was released on PC, console owners immediately began to wonder: when will Baldur’s Gate 3 be released on Xbox and PS? It’s one thing to sit at a computer for hours, randomly pressing the keyboard and computer mouse, and quite another to sit comfortably in front of a large screen, pick up a joystick, and plunge headlong into this amazing fantasy world.

I hasten to please you because Baldur’s Gate 3 has already been released on Xbox and, by the way, quite a long time ago. This cannot but please. However, as always, there are some nuances. Unfortunately, Baldur’s Gate 3 is only available on Xbox series X and S. The game is quite demanding, so it requires powerful hardware. For this reason, unfortunately, owners of the older version – Xbox One – will not be able to play Baldur’s Gate 3. There are two choices: either curse everything and everyone and sullenly wander to the PC, or gather your will into a fist and save money for new versions of Xbox. Of course, there is an option not to play Baldur’s Gate 3 at all and give preference to something easier and more fun. But you and I aren’t looking for easy ways, are we?

Even if you are a real Scrooge McDuck, greedily guarding his money, you will not be able to resist the temptation to buy a cool game for your collection. Especially when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to buy the game on Steam, you will have to say goodbye to 60 dollars. What a price! As for the price of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox, everything is also disappointing – 70 dollars.

While you are lying in a faint, I hasten to console you: this game is worth such an investment. Of course, it would be so great if the games were free … This is already some kind of parallel universe.

However, when you start getting acquainted with Baldur’s Gate 3, you will instantly forget about the money spent, because everything will pay off thanks to the gorgeously developed atmosphere and gameplay, unique and special characters with their history. Well, you will see for yourself when you buy the game.

Every gamer is familiar with bugs and no way without them. Every character has at least once gotten stuck in textures or started behaving strangely. Bugs have become an integral part of any game, but sometimes they add a certain charm. And, of course, unbridled fun. But this is not always the case. When you play, and at the most crucial moment the game suddenly decides to fly out, this can cause a lot of dead nerve cells.

Despite the laudatory reviews and high ratings, Baldur’s Gate 3 is not without bugs and lags.

Of course, the Larian company promptly responds to all complaints and eliminates annoying glitches, but minor bugs can still be found in the cult game. Sometimes textures did not load, the game crashed at the “Load game” moment, and so on. Logically, Baldur’s Gate 3 can slow down considerably if you play it on old hardware, showing a small amount of FPS. However, when you play Baldur’s Gate 3 on a new Xbox and suddenly your character freezes – that’s a shame (considering how much money we spent on this game). Fortunately, the developers do not ignore the problems, otherwise, no matter how cool Baldur’s Gate 3 is, it would not be played like that.

Where would we be without them? The latest updates for Baldur’s Gate have affected Xbox owners. And the reason for this is the mods we all know 🙂 The game supports various modifications for both PC and consoles. And here the fans have distinguished themselves: some have downloaded more than 100 mods for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox.

This is certainly cool, but the game began to freeze, performance has deteriorated significantly and crashes have begun. The Larian company responded to the complaints and stated that these problems would soon be solved in a new hotfix. If anything, this update will only affect console owners.

Pros:

• a huge and rich story with many unique dialogues and forks that you won’t be able to see even in 10 walkthroughs;
• interesting and sometimes shocking battles with bosses;
• a musical during one of the boss fights;
• cool musical accompaniment;
• variety, allowing you to defeat an enemy with a stick of sausage, turn him into a sheep, crush him with an owlbear, or slap him with a ghostly hand;
• quests that evoke a range of emotions from laughter to fierce hatred.

Cons:

• unfinished third act;
• the illusion of choice in dialogues;
•  bugs;
• sometimes the characters are too intrusive towards you.

The game caused a massive delight and won the nomination “Best Game of the Year in 2023”. Players are always greedy for good games. As usual, there are already hundreds of reviews about Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam. Among them are both positive and negative. Here, for example, is one of the good ones:

“A technical stable game that is far beyond a videogame. Everything is pure art. The story is not one story instead the player has hundreds of different outcomes. Aside from that, the storyline itself and dialogues are worth multiple Oscars. The same goes for the voice acting, music graphics, physics, love of details, and choreography, which no game ever had before at this quality level. Is BG3 perfect? No. In a game this massive there are going to be bugs, but they are minor and largely ignorable. More importantly, there are no microtransactions or stupid DLCs. This is a complete game that has been years in the making and it shows. Anyone making a game right now will play this and I suspect the vast majority of them will realize they need to go back to the drawing board.”

Among a large number of positive reviews, it was difficult to find negative ones, but they exist, and here is one of them:

“Not for me, so happy so many people enjoyed this game, but I find it boring and the combat is too repetitive. I’m a huge RPG fan and this just wasn’t for me. The interactions and the freedom are fun, but the actual gameplay just isn’t my cup of tea”. As I noticed, the negative reviews are mostly dated 2023 and are related to poor performance and bugs in the Third Act. Some complained that the game was boring. You can endlessly argue about whether Baldur’s Gate 3 is interesting or just a hyped game. Everyone has their own opinion. Besides, until you try it, you won’t know. Good luck to you!
