On mobile devices, you often encounter intrusive advertising in games, which is incredibly annoying. This should not happen on Steam – decided Valve and updated the rules for advertising their platform.
Here is what is allowed and what is prohibited.
Allowed:
- Cross-advertising (for example, within the framework of thematic sales).
- Paid advertising outside of Steam.
- Product placement. Games may contain unobtrusive advertising elements, for example, clothing of famous brands or popular food products. But, I emphasize, unobtrusive advertising.
Prohibited:
- Rewards for viewing advertising.
- Charging fees by developers from other developers for access to Steam functions such as sales pages, etc.
- Games should not contain advertising that interferes with the game, or that must be viewed to access blocked content. If your projects contain such elements, you need to cut them out before uploading them to Steam.
